3rd Annual Science Fair

We’ve decided to split the group. This year our third annual science fair will take place on March 20 and 27.

The theme this year is Chemistry.
Dance, sing, paint, and experiment your way through learning about chemistry.
Be safe, have fun and keep your explosions SMALL!

We’ve learned about the scientific method, science saftey, matter, atoms and molecules together. When you present your science fair project you will have the opportunity to speak and teach everyone what else you have learned.

Solar System Science Fair Success!

What a wonderful Solar System Science fair day we had! Some of the children presented their projects this week, the rest will present next week. We are looking forward to seeing what other wonderful ideas were created.

We have seen an amazing array of projects – a necklace of all the planets in the solar system, a report on the planets, focus on Jupiter and Saturn, a model and report  on Voyager 1&2 and a model of the solar system. You all worked very hard. Congratulations and great job everyone!

Solar System Success!

What a terrific field trip! We learned about the solar system and how ancient man viewed the stars. The favorites of the day seem to have been constellations, traveling to other planets and the train display downstairs.

Congratulations everyone, not only were we on time we were all EARLY! Bravo!

We’ll discuss Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune next week and build dioramas. Please bring any material you feel may be helpful, your notes and reports.

You have 14 days from today to complete your solar system science fair projects.

Have a great week!

The Sun, Mercury, Venus, Earth and Mars – Creative learning and Cooperation

This week we created diaoramas for each of the first four planets and the sun.  We worked in groups and the children learned what others know about the planets they have been studying, the art of collage and cooperation. Next week we will continue with remaining planets. Please bring any materials from home you feel may be useful for this project.  Money for the field trip is due this week. Please bring $7 for each person who will attend. Check your email later for a list and check to make sure I have the correct number for your family.

Please continue to observe and record what you see each evening in the night sky (Moon, no moon, sliver, half, stars, airplanes, clouds, etc.)   We will discuss your recordings and observations the week after our field trip during our solar system science fair.   If you have not been making observations, please start now so you will be able to participate in the conversation!

Star Gazing

Don’t forget to sign up for the field trip to the Planetarium on March 7 and keep working hard on your projects for our solar system science fair on March 14

Your project can be a written report, a model, a fiction story (all solar system/planet facts must be accurate), on the entire solar system or on one planet or the sun. It’s up to you. Just have fun!
